Community

From the beginning, The Alchemist has been about creating and supporting our community as a local business. Supporting and engaging with local events and non-profits in the arts, recreation, human services, sustainability and beyond is part of our core value as a company.  Our work at the Alchemist Foundation is focused on expanding educational and economic opportunity for Vermont’s young people.

In 2012, John and Jen started awarding annual scholarships to students at the local high school. In 2016, they expanded this work into the Alchemist Foundation, a nonprofit organization focused on expanding educational and economic opportunity in the communities where our employees live & work. Along Route 100 from Warren to Eden, the Alchemist Foundation is working to highlight the opportunities and needs of Vermonters aged 16-24.

The Alchemist Foundation works with local high schools and technical & career centers to support young people during and beyond high school, and partners with local nonprofits working with youth. The Foundation awards a dozen multi-year scholarships for students going beyond high school to trade school or college annually, works directly on issues impacting youth, and funds innovative projects designed to elevate and celebrate young people.

The Alchemist Foundation is committed to helping Vermont’s young people succeed in their communities, whether they are working on climate action, writing a musical, creating inclusive spaces or just figuring out the best career path. Making sure our local youth know they are valued members of our community, and helping employers and community members see, appreciate and celebrate young people, is core to the mission.
